The Wisdom of Old Age

— Mark N. Jones

The art of letting go

Realizing that people

Evolve or devolve

Into something else

Sometimes for the better

Sometimes for the worse

Each stage

A calcification of

A new paradigm

That will never return

To their original state

In my old age

I have learned

To stop expecting

Much from people

I just seek the beauty

In what is before me

As beauty lights

The way to truth

And great truths

Have always existed

And like me

In my old age

Are too important

To be new
